Lauren Toledo is a third-year medical student at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and she is completing her Scholarly Concentration Capstone Project in the Neuroscience Pathway with Dr. Lilah Besser as her mentor. Her current work contributes to the Healthy Brain Initiative (HBI) Study, an observational study aimed at developing a dementia-prevention framework using a precision medicine approach. Ms. Toledo is involved in research examining the association between systemic inflammation, neighborhood tree canopy, and white matter hyperintensities, with the goal of understanding how environmental and biological factors interact to influence brain aging and dementia risk.
